What should I wear for my yearbook picture?

If your school requires tux/drape:

We provide the black formal tux or blue blazer, the formal black velvet drape and White Cap and Gowns if needed for your session here at our studio. Ladies should wear and/or bring a tank top to wear under the drape. Gentlemen may want to wear and/or bring a white dress shirt with collar to wear under the tux or blazer. Note: your school may require a casual pose or both a formal and a casual pose.

What should I bring and/or wear for my personal outfits?

  • Long sleeves and solid colors (to keep the focus on you).

  • Casual and Formal outfits.

  • Matching shoes and socks (for full-length poses)

  • Letter jackets, uniforms, class ring, pets and props that reflect who you are and how you like to spend your free time.

  • Casual outfit (please be prepared to change into your personal casual outfit after your formal poses are completed).

  • Make-up and hair supplies (for touch-ups only), and any accessories.

What about glasses?

If you wear glasses regularly, wear them during the photo shoot. However, glasses sometimes cause distortions, reflections, and elimination of detail in the eye area of your portraits. We will make every attempt to minimize the glare and reflection from your lenses.

What about my appearance?

In preparation for your session:

  • Check your outfits for wrinkles and place them in a garment bag.

  • Do your nails (clear or neutral colors work best).

  • Gentlemen, please shave as you normally would.

  • Limit your exposure to the sun a few days before your photo session to avoid sunburns or tan lines.

  • Avoid getting a new hairstyle or cut right before your session. Instead, select a comfortable style you know looks good.

  • Make sure to get a good night's sleep.

  • Do your hair and makeup before you arrive.

  • Apply concealer and powder to minimize any blemishes and then stop worrying! Portrait retouching can eliminate small blemishes and under-eye circles on your final order.

What can I expect at my photo session?

  • Once you've checked in with our welcoming photographer's assistant at the front desk, you will be asked to dress in your school's attire to get ready to experience a portrait session that is ALL ABOUT YOU. Parents will be seated in our lobby area ..

  • You may interact with one photographer only or several different photographers for different portrait styles. Our Studio is a device free environment. Please take your selfies and photos with your friends in the lobby. Parents you will receive color corrected proofs that are printed on portrait paper about two weeks after your photography date.

  • You hold the complete attention of your photographer. We'll have posing and background ideas, but don't hesitate to ask questions or express what YOU WANT. Here is a hint- Your Photographer will be asking you to pose into the light - always have your nose pointed toward the large round light source.

  • Expect some poses to feel a little awkward, but TRUST YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER to know what looks great in a finished portrait.

  • Most importantly, relax and HAVE FUN and remember not all of your expressions should be great big smiles. Many of our best portraits show quiet moments with reflective thoughts. Practice your SMIZE ( smiling with your eyes not your mouth) .
