Welcome to our online reservation system to create an appointment to drop-off select items for recycling/safe disposal. With the exception of the Household Hazardous Collection, scheduled collection events will be held at the Macon County Environmental Managment Recycling Center at 1750 N. 21st St., Decatur, IL. 


Household Hazardous Collection on September 21st, will be held at Progress City on the corner of West Progress and First Progress (John Deere lot).

To register for Household Hazardous: Begin by clicking on the drop-down menu on the left and select Household Hazardous Waste. Check all boxes that apply to the type of waste you intend to bring, you must select at least one. Be sure to click Saturday, September 21st, 2024 when selecting the date. Select a time by clicking on a "Book Now" button. Complete the registration with your information and clicking continue. Check your email for messages that confirm your appointment time.

To register for paint or electronics: Begin by clicking on the drop-down menu on the left and select the items that you would like to drop-off. Click on a calendar date that is highlighted (typically in blue). Select a time by clicking on a "Book Now" button. Complete the registration and payment forms ($10 for TVs/monitor, other accepted items are free). Check your email for messages that confirm your appointment time and if applicable, payment for TVs/monitors.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection
Household Hazardous Waste Collections are a free one day event for any resident of the state of Illinois. These events are sponsored by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. During this event residents are welcomed to bring household hazardous waste for safe and proper disposal free of charge. Registration is required for these events.

TVs/Electronics
During electronic collection events, select consumer electronic devices may be dropped off for recycling by residents who book a reservation and pre-pay $10.00 for each TV/monitor to be collected.  At the time of reservation, each confirmed registrant may drop-off up to seven select consumer video/game and home office electronics items, including up to three TVs/monitors.  See the full list of accepted items by clicking here.  Please note:  With the exception of TVs and CRT monitors, most consumer electronic devices may be dropped on a daily basis, free of charge, for recycling at participating retailers.  Click here for more information.


Paint

Household-generated latex paint, oil-based paint, stains, and varnishes in their original containers with legible labels may be dropped-off without charge for proper disposal by residents with a confirmed appointment.  Please note that regulations only allow for the acceptance of household paints, stains, and varnishes. Automotive paints, craft paints, lacquers, spray paints, paints from businesses as well as other household hazardous waste items are not accepted at these collections due to state and federal regulations.
