Glassblowing 3-Study Group

Bead Making 2: Moretti 4 Wk Thur ($240)
This continuing Moretti course will cover intermediate techniques including buttons, hollows, and small sculpture. You will develop working with punties and a variety of accessory glass applications. Through a series of class demonstrations, discussion, and hands on practice you will further your skills at the torch.

Fused Glass Study Group
Bring your own personal projects or ideas to this come-as-you-can fusing class. An instructor will be present for the entire three hour session. This is a great opportunity to learn more kilns, tools, and techniques, and to get feedback on things you've been working on. Scrap glass and cutting materials included, but your welcome to bring your own if you prefer. Additional costs for sheet glass and/or firings may apply. Some experience required

Stained Glass 1(6W Thursday) ($325)
During this six-week workshop, students will learn the basic skills of stained glass. Instructors will start by teaching students to cut and grind glass. Then, using the American Tiffany copper foil technique, students will prepare their objects to be assembled. The final step is to solder the pieces together to create sun-catchers, window panels and ornaments. All tools and supplies are provided. No previous experience is required, experienced students are welcome, with opportunity to learn more advanced techniques on an individual basis.No experience necessary.All materials included.

Classes for Homeschool Teens- beginner Flameworking (12 wk Thur morning)-$670
Are you interested in jewelry and design? This 12-week intensive is very exciting because the duration of the course will allow the students to develop a personal line of jewelry. After a discussion of studio set-up and safety, demonstrations, we will introduce students to the use of heat and gravity to shape molten glass at a stationary bench torch. Demonstrations will alternate with working time. In the second quarter students will be introduced to design concepts and jewelry fittings. In the third quarter students will be introduced to Boro glass, a higher temperature glass, which they can use to make hollow forms and small sculpture. After that students will be free to focus on the process, which is most appealing to them.

Classes for Homeschool Teens- beginner Glassblowing (12 wk Thur morning)-$870
this 12-week intensive, teens will focus on building their skills and understanding of hot glass. This is a great course for a teen that has taken Diablo's Teen Camp or the first time student. In the first quarter, Diablo's teachers will drill the basic skills of gathering, blowing, and tool handling. Second quarter we will concentrate our skills on making a set of matching drinking glass. In the final quarter students will be given the chance to move into the sculptural world, beginning with a variety of decorative bit techniques on larger vessels. A series of group projects will occur through out the 12 weeks. From there we will see were their imagination takes them.
