What should I bring/wear for my personal outfits?

  • Long sleeves and solid colors (to keep the focus on you).

  • Casual and Formal outfits.

  • Matching shoes and socks (for full-length poses)

  • Letter jackets, uniforms, class ring, pets and props that reflect who you are and how you like to spend your free time.

  • Several extra outfits (while you may not wear every outfit, it is good to have several on hand).

  • Make-up and hair supplies (for touch-ups only), and any accessories.

  • One friend or parent to assist you.

What about glasses?

If you wear glasses regularly, wear them during the photo shoot. However, glasses sometimes cause distortions, reflections, and elimination of detail in the eye area of your portraits. We recommend that a pair of empty frames be borrowed from an optician, or have the lenses removed from your own glasses. This is a much more natural look.
If that is not possible, we will make every attempt to minimize the glare and reflection from your lenses.

What about my appearance?

In preparation for your session:

  • Check your outfits for wrinkles and place them in a garment bag.

  • Do your nails (clear or neutral colors work best).

  • Gentlemen, be sure to shave the night before.

  • Limit your exposure to the sun a few days before your photo session to avoid sunburns or tan lines.

  • Avoid getting a new hairstyle or cut right before your session. Instead, select a comfortable style you know looks good.
  • Make sure to get a good night's sleep.

Just before your portrait appointment:

  • Do your hair and makeup before you arrive.

  • Apply concealer and powder to minimize any blemishes and then stop worrying!
Portrait retouching can eliminate small blemishes on your final order.
