The RealSense VITA program is an IRS initiative that supports free tax preparation servicesthrough volunteers within our community.

RealSense post-season support will be provided from July 13, 2026, through October 13, 2026 by appointment 
only on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9am to 1pm at the St. Matthews Christian Community Care Center.


Military servicemembers returning from deployment: additional support is available to you by appointment only from 9am to 2pm on May 15th, June 19th and July 17th, 2026.  You must have access to the base to receive these services.

Want to save time at your tax appointment? Download, complete and print the IRS intake document Intake/Interview Form. NOTE: We cannot prepare your returns from documents stored on your mobile devices. Please print them in advance of your appointment and bring them to the tax site with you for more efficient and timely service. IF YOU CANNOT PRINT THE INTAKE FORM, be sure to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment to allow time to complete the form.

What to bring to your appointment
·   Completed intake form
·   Current photo IDs (you and your spouse, if applicable)
·   Social Security cards for all persons on the return
·   All applicable tax documents, such as:


W2

1099R

1099-INT

SSA-1099

1099-NEC

1099-DIV

1099-K

1099-G

etc.


Any letter received from the IRS, such as CP-### notices concerning unfiled taxes or outstanding balances

·   IRS issued Identity Theft Protection PIN (must be for current year)

Did you have Marketplace Insurance? If yes, please provide Form 1095-A to your preparer to be included in your tax return. Not sure if you have Marketplace Insurance? Call (800) 318-2596 to complete Form 1095-A. [Marketplace Insurance providers include, but are not limited to: AmBetter, Florida Blue, United Healthcare and more].

For direct deposit, please bring either a voided check or account verification letter from the bank showing the taxpayer as the account holder.

Schedule C filers (self-employed)
must have:
- A written summary of business expenses
- Mileage log entries
- Documents supporting income received

RealSense cannot file a return with business losses.

If filing a joint return, both spouses must be present to sign and submit your return. If filing a joint return, please do not create separate appointments or complete separate intake documents.

We regret that the Virtual Filing Option
 is not available during the post season, but you can refer back to this site at the start of the TY2026 in January of 2027.

Other important information:

Returns with Bitcoin or any form of Virtual Currency are Out-of-Scope for our program and cannot be filed by the RealSense team.

If you have already filed your tax return and are concerned about the status of your refund, please check the IRS Where’s My Refund webpage. After a return is transmitted and accepted, neither the RealSense VITA program or the tax site can track your refund. 

If you must file returns for multiple years, please do not create an appointment for each tax year. While creating your appointment, a screen will display the year(s) we can file for you during your appointment, select all that apply. 

NOTE: All duplicate appointments will be removed. Failure to follow the procedure may cause you to lose your appointment.
