Nick of Time Foundation in partnership with local medical groups conducts ON-SITE heart screenings for adolescents and young adults. Offered to all students ages 12-24 regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, and socio-economic status- no matter where they attend to school. Our screening model is being used nationwide as the “gold standard” for community-based screening programs.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is the leading cause of death in exercising and "at play" young people, happening every 2 days in the US. Most have hidden cardiac abnormalities with no warning signs until suffering a SCA.
Screenings consist of a Heart Health Survey asking about possible signs & symptoms or family history of a heart condition. An EKG is performed that analyzes the electrical signals of the heart and in some cases, a limited heart sounds exam or Echocardiogram of the heart is conducted. The results are reviewed on site by medical professionals experienced in EKG youth heart screens and a copy of our checkout form is sent home for parents.
Appointments are scheduled every 15 minutes and take approximately 40 minutes to complete.
Please disable your "pop up" blocker in order to continue your appointment confirmation after your donation. If the confirmation window doesn't pop back up, the timeslot is NOT confirmed. Using a computer is suggested, smart phones are problematic because of the bulit in security present in phones.
If you are scheduling multiple appointments, you must log off after each one and then enter the new name for the next appointment slot.
Nick of Time Foundation provides this EKG Youth Heart Screening at no cost or obligation. However, to help defer screening costs and enable future community screening events, a suggested donation of $25.00 per participant is recommended. Many parents also “pay it forward,” and those extra donations go into a scholarship fund for families who might otherwise not be able to afford a screening.
Donations are tax deductible and can be made by cash or check payable to Nick of Time Foundation or by online donation at: www.nickoftimefoundation.org/donate/
An EKG usually costs about $150 in a doctor’s office and an ECHO about $1500. With your generous support, donations help defer screening costs and enable future community screening events. No student will be denied a screening.
