People who received 2 doses of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine and who meet eligibility requirements may receive a booster shot (third dose).

Eligibility:  The CDC recommends that the following groups should receive a booster shot of Pfizer’s COVID-19 at least 6 months after receiving their second dose:

or CDPH website at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/booster-shot.html

You can mix-and-match booster doses ... in other words, the vaccine product for your booster can be different from the vaccine product you got for your primary dose.

You may select the booster product you want to receive from the service on the left side.

> COVID booster Pfizer 3rd dose

> COVID booster Moderna 3rd dose

To be eligible you must have moderate or severe immune compromise as defined by CDC, and your 2nd dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine was at least 28 days ago.

Your regular healthcare provider is in the best position to determine if you are eligible,  and administer a 3rd dose.

If you cannot access a third dose through your regular provider, you can schedule an appointment at AITC

At the visit, you must self-attest to having one of the following conditions or treatments:

·      Receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood

·      Received an organ transplant and am taking medicine to suppress my immune system

·      Received a stem cell transplant within the last two years or am taking medicine to suppress the immune system

·      Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (e.g., DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)

·      Advanced or untreated HIV infection

·       Active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that suppress my immune response

You should select the same vaccine for your 3rd dose that you had for your first 2

San Francisco Department of Public Health has updated its policies for giving a “supplemental” mRNA vaccine to persons who received a Johnson & Johnson dose.  To receive a supplemental dose, you must meet ALL the following:

We only offer:
Pfizer on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Moderna on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

1.     You must show proof that you are a San Francisco resident or, if you are not a San Francisco resident, proof that you received your Johnson & Johnson vaccine at a San Francisco vaccine center

2.     You must show documentation of having received a Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine.  We accept as documentation either CDC vaccination card or the California digital record.  If you believe you were vaccinated but don’t have the documentation, you will need to return to AITC at another time after you’ve been able to obtain the documentation.

You must also not have had any prior doses of Pfizer or Moderna (mRNA) vaccines.

Ideally, the date of your Johnson & Johnson dose would be at least 28 days before your supplemental dose.

3.     You will be required to attest that you have consulted with a healthcare provider about the potential risks and the lack of clear benefits of getting a supplemental dose.  If you don’t have a healthcare provider, you can consult with a clinician at your AITC visit.
