Kirstin Blase, M.A. candidate in Biochemistry, B.S. Chemistry; school-related science and math, SAT/ACT/GRE/MCAT preparation. Originally a staff scientist at Washington University, where she performed research and training, Kirstin left the lab in 2002 to pursue her love of teaching. Kirstin has been an invaluable resource for One-on-One Tutoring ever since, taking on students in the most challenging upper-level math and science classes as well as those in developmental classes.

Kristina Jones, M.Ed. Elementary Education and Middle-School Mathematics; elementary education, K-8 (all subjects), SSAT preparation. Kristina's students find her energetic and friendly, a genuine ally who both nurtures and challenges her students. She is a certified teacher who has taught all elementary-school grades and who loves working with kids.

Nicole Nathe, B.S. Biology, M.A. Education Policy and Leadership; school-related math and science, SAT/ACT preparation. Nicole is down-to-earth and deeply interested in her subject, a quality that makes learning with her contagious. Nicole loves to work closely with students to explore scientific and mathematical topics and help them come alive with real-world connections.

Betty Neale-Oestreicher, B.A. English, learning specialist; organizational/study skills, school-related English/history and math, SAT/ACT preparation. A high-school English teacher since 1996, Betty is multi-talented, using her language skills to teach both verbal- and math-related subjects. Betty's one-on-one work with students is informed by her experience as Academic Head of a school for students with learning, behavioral, and emotional disabilities, where she created extensive study skills and organizational curricula. Betty is an avid reader and writer of fiction and is currently at work on her Master of Fine Arts in Writing.

Jessamyn Rains, M.A. English, B.A. Philosophy and Religious Studies; organizational/study skills, school-related English/history, writing, SAT/ACT/SSAT preparation. Before moving to St. Louis in 2015, Jessamyn taught English at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, as well as functioning as Coordinator of the Bradley University Writing Center. Kind, genuine, and intuitive, Jessamyn enjoys working closely with students of all ages to understand and meet their individual needs. An accomplished writer, Jessamyn has published both prose and poetry in scholarly journals.

Chandra Rednam, B.S. Electrical Engineering, M.S. Biomedical Engineering; math through calculus, SAT/ACT preparation. Chandra once confided that she does calculus for fun. This statement is somewhere between a joke and an honest description of her teaching philosophy: Chandra is passionate about math and takes great joy in communicating both an understanding of mathematical concepts and a passion for the subject. Challenging yet gentle in her teaching, Chandra uses creative teaching strategies to guide each student's learning with sensitivity and surety.

Steve Schreiner, Ph.D. English; school-related English/history, SAT/ACT/GRE/MCAT preparation. An accomplished poet and professor of English at UMSL, Steve approaches his students with a quiet voice, a ready ear, and a wry sense of humor that serves him well both in his work with school subjects and test preparation. Steve is particularly attuned to the roots and themes of contemporary fiction, and he helps his students address the elements of literature and history through in-depth study in reading and writing.

Lynn Staley, Ph.D. English; school-related English/history, Spanish, SAT/ACT/GRE/MCAT preparation. Currently the head of the Business Writing Program at UMSL and a past professor of English at Saint Louis University, Lynn brings to her tutoring a strong knowledge of both contemporary pedagogical approaches and literary trends and practices. An expert teacher, writer, and analyst of literature, Lynn infuses her work with students with a zest for both academic challenge and joyful inquiry.

Vicki Tatko, M.A. English, B.A. Philosophy, learning specialist; organizational/study skills, school-related English/history, math, and science, German, SAT/ACT preparation. A nurturing teacher with a great sense of humor, Vicki makes students instantly feel at home with her. Vicki's work with students is multi-faceted: she teaches both the subject at hand and the study skills necessary to master that subject. In-depth study of learning disabilities has led Vicki to master the art of observing and understanding students' learning, a quality that allows her to pinpoint exactly how to help students reach their potential.

Sara Wright, Ph.D. candidate in Biology; school-related math and science, SAT/ACT preparation. Sara is warm and upbeat, a natural teacher who immediately makes students feel comfortable. Sara is a certified math and science teacher and a skilled tutor who challenges her students to think deeply about math and science.



One-on-One Tutoring, Inc., was founded in 1991 by Jacqueline Gross, M.F.A., M.A.T. As president and academic coordinator, Jackie leads the "team approach" that helps One-on-One create effective, individualized education for students. She has taught at secondary, undergraduate, and graduate levels, ranging from small, special-education forums to large lectures. Working one-on-one with students and their families, counselors, and teachers is her greatest passion.
